Tourism Ireland has teamed up with Co-operation Ireland and six school choirs from around the island of Ireland to create a new video. Timed to coincide with International Youth Day on 12 August, the film aims to remind people everywhere about the island of Ireland and to bring them a message of friendship and hope and optimism in the midst of the many challenges facing humanity in 2020.
The video, available here, features 48 young choristers and performs under the guidance of Dónal Doherty, the artistic director of the City of Derry International Choir Festival.
The uplifting video also features students from Laurel Hill Coláiste FCJ in Limerick, where Orla Colgan Ahern, choir director, previously taught The Cranberries’ lead singer, the late Dolores O’Riordan.
Joining the Limerick singers are pupils from Methodist College, Belfast; Moate Community School, County Westmeath; Presentation Secondary School in Ballyphehane, Cork; St Mary's College in Derry~Londonderry and Blackrock College in Dublin.
In the video the young people’s vocals are intercut with wonderful footage of coastal scenery, mountain greenery and iconic locations from all parts of the island of Ireland.
