Tourism Ireland and Travelzoo have partnered to bring the spectacular Galway International Arts Festival live to US audiences. Travelzoo Senior Editor Gabe Saglie and his crew are in Galway where they will broadcast live on Facebook on July 22 to a potential audience in the millions. Following from its hugely successful St Patrick’s festival broadcast this Tourism Ireland initiative will allow viewers and social media followers to see and engage with the beautiful city of Galway and the greater Wild Atlantic Way.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland Executive Vice President, US and Canada
“We are delighted our partners at Travelzoo are joining us to bring the Galway International Arts Festival to a vast online audience. This initiative provides a wonderful opportunity to profile one of our great events and offers an insight into how our festivals bring the destination to life. They take place year round and country wide and bring a great vitality and verve to towns and villages along the Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland’s Ancient East and Northern Ireland.”
Senior Editor with Travelzoo, Gabe Saglie, commented:
“Ireland is consistently one of the most searched-for international destinations on the Travelzoo website, so it is exciting for us to share the magic of the Galway International Arts Festival with the world through another one of our exclusive Facebook LIVE broadcasts. On a personal note, I fell in love with Galway on my first visit a few years ago – there is a special energy here, driven by its people and its cultural heritage. No wonder Galway won European Capital of Culture for 2020. I can’t think of a better way to spend what’ll be my 10th visit to Ireland covering the Galway International Arts Festival and witnessing world-class art and music at its most spectacular.”
John Crumlish, Galway International Arts Festival CEO said.
"Galway International Arts Festival brought thousands of international visitors into the city in 2017, filling hotel rooms, restaurants and bars, and contributing to the festival's estimated €29.5m economic impact. We have been working with our tourism partners all year to ensure last year's record-breaking numbers are surpassed in 2018 and beyond. Travelzoo's attendance and broadcasting from the Festival will greatly assist us in putting Galway International Arts Festival front and centre in international visitors minds."
