Visit the land of your ancestors and make 2018 the year of discovery by joining the Ulster Historical Foundation
Visit the land of your ancestors and make 2018 the year of discovery by joining the Ulster Historical Foundation to celebrate 300 years and more of Irish migration. Learn about the history of Ireland and your ancestors' lives and migration experiences first-hand through a number of special events planned in 2018.
2018 marks the tercentenary of the 1718 migration from Ulster to New England, a major event in the story of Irish migration to the new worlds. Ulster Historical Foundation will be hosting a number of family history tours and programmes throughout the year to mark this important anniversary. Whether you want to find out more about that long lost ancestor or stand on the ground where they stood, our 2018 events may be exactly what you are looking for!
Learn the skills you need to trace your family history and join us for one of three family history courses in 2018 (05-09 February, 30 April-04 May, and 13-19 June). These courses are taught by the experienced staff of the Foundation and include a week of lectures complimented by guided research in the archives, all of which is designed to help you uncover more about your family history.
In June 2018 join the Scots-Irish Discovery Tour, organised by Cara Group Travel USA in partnership with the Foundation, and uncover the history of the province of Ulster. Explore your Irish and Scots-Irish heritage with visits to Glenveagh National Park and Castle; the historic walled city of Derry-Londonderry; the Giant's Causeway; and Titanic Belfast.
Running from 05-12 September our annual family history conference hosted in Belfast will offer visitors the opportunity to shape their own experiences by choosing to either research in the different archives in Belfast and Dublin or join us on daily excursions through Ireland's beautiful landscape to some of its most historic sites.
If you cannot join us in Ireland in 2018 our staff will be also be embarking on a month-long genealogy lecture tour of North America in March beginning in Augusta, GA and ending in Honolulu, HI. Learn from the experts in a town near you. Later in 2018, our staff will deliver an Irish research course at the British Institute which takes place from 15-19 October in Salt Lake city UT, hosted by the International Society for British Genealogy and Family History.
Our programmes are all about helping you to trace your roots and find a deeper connection with the land of your ancestors and we look forward to doing so in 2018.
