A message from Tourism Ireland CEO Niall Gibbons
As the tourism industry across the island of Ireland gets ready to re-open we very much look forward to welcoming media guests back when the time is right.
Guidelines for re-opening have been issued, and continue to be updated, that will facilitate the reopening of tourism businesses from June 29th in Ireland and July 3rd in Northern Ireland. If there are any movements in these dates we will of course let you know. I am in regular contact with our tourism partners across the island of Ireland and know that they will be implementing social distancing requirements with a lot of care and creativity, ensuring a great experience for all. The health and safety of all our visitors will be the priority but we will ensure they are protected while still receiving a very warm Irish welcome.
There are still quarantine restrictions in place in both Ireland and Northern Ireland but these are under constant review. While the tourism industry is very hard at work getting ready to welcome overseas visitors back to our shores, the quarantine restrictions mean it will be a while longer before we get to extend that welcome in person. We will update you on any developments as they take place.
I want you to know how highly valued you are by everyone involved in tourism on the island of Ireland. Thank you for everything. If there is anything that I, or any of the team, can do to support you in covering Ireland, please let us know.
