1 Derry Girls Experience, Tower Museum, County Derry
The walled city of Derry has a new attraction for fans of the award-winning TV sitcom Derry Girls. An exhibition at the Tower Museum, running until July 2024, showcases props, costumes and memorabilia from the show such as Erin’s diary and Ma’s 90s-style jumper. A new treat for fans who may already have enjoyed the Derry Girls guided tours and mural.
2 Irish Wake Museum, County Waterford
Ireland’s newest museum traces the Irish customs, traditions and superstitions associated with death from the earliest times to the twentieth century. The unique attraction, located in Ireland’s oldest urban domestic building, offers a guided tour that takes you through five centuries of fascinating funeral rituals.
3 Skellig Six18 Distillery, County Kerry
The dramatic Wild Atlantic Way is the inspiration for the whiskey made at Skellig Six18 Distillery and Visitor Experience in Cahersiveen. Led by a storyteller, the award-winning tour of the distillery reveals the whiskey-making process and how the distillery got its name. There’s also the opportunity to sample a variety of spirits.
4 Ireland’s Ancient East Maze, Sky Park, County Louth
Ireland’s largest adventure park has a new challenge with the opening of the Ireland’s Ancient East Maze. With towers, bridges and gates that open and close, the maze offers a new experience every time. Themed around aspects of Ireland’s Ancient East, there is inspiration along the way for more places to visit.
5 Beyond the Trees Avondale, County Wicklow
The newly refurbished Avondale House offers guided tours through this historic building and is an added attraction for visitors to Avondale Forest Park and its dramatic treetop walk. The Beyond the Trees walkway, which opened last year, stretches for 1.3km ending at the foot of an impressive 38m-high timber viewing tower.
