Ashford Castle is ranked UK & Ireland’s Number 1 Resort Hotel in Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2017 and is named Best Hotel & Best Resort Hotel at Hospitality Ireland Awards 2017
Ashford Castle continues to define itself as one of the leading forces in luxury hospitality, this week claiming 3 separate accolades at both national and international level. The historic West of Ireland property has been unveiled as the Number 1 Resort Hotel in the UK & Ireland and ranked Number 9 Resort Hotel in Europe for 2017 at the annual Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, announced on Tuesday 17th October.
At the Hospitality Ireland Awards, Ashford Castle also claimed the titles of Best Hotel and Best Resort Hotel at a gala industry event in Dublin’s Intercontinental Hotel.
The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are widely regarded as one of the most esteemed international awards series, celebrating excellence in travel and hospitality as voted by readers of Condé Nast Traveler.
These awards add to an already impressive list of accolades achieved to date this year by Ashford Castle which includes being named AA Hotel of the Year 2017 and claiming the titles of Ireland’s Five Star Hotel and Ireland’s Guest Experience at the 2017 Gold Medal Awards, in association with Hotel & Catering Review. Internationally, Ashford Castle was also listed as one of the top 25 experiences in the world at the inaugural Chad Clark Certified 25.
Ashford Castle reopened its doors in April 2015, having been acquired by Red Carnation Hotels in 2013, to unveil its spectacular multi-million restoration. The 13th century castle was once home to the Guinness family for over 100 years and today offers guest an unrivalled blend of modern luxury and traditional Irish hospitality.
On receiving news of the awards, Mr Niall Rochford, General Manager of Ashford Castle commented: “This has been a fantastic week for Ashford Castle to have been recognised at such an esteemed level both nationally and internationally. We owe our success to the hard-working team at the hotel and to our wider family at Red Carnation Hotels. 2017 has been another prosperous year for both Ashford Castle and Irish tourism as a whole, and I would like to thank Condé Nast Traveler and Hospitality Ireland for their continued support.”
Along with its beautifully-restored, opulent bedrooms, Ashford Castle is also home to a 32-seat private Cinema, Billiards Room, Cigar Terrace, Wine Cellar and new conservatory which houses the award-winning Spa, Gym and ozone-filtrated Pool. The expansive 350 acre Ashford estate also provides the perfect playground for a wealth of outdoor pursuits such as golf, horse-riding, kayaking, cycling, zip lining, fishing, clay shooting and flying a hawk at Ireland’s first Falconry School. The luxurious Hideaway Cottage is one of the estate’s best kept secrets – the Estate’s former boathouse which has since been converted to a lavish couples retreat on the shores of Lough Corrib.
