New York, June 30, 2022, Ireland will be the center of the golfing world this week as it hosts many of the game’s top players for not one, but two prestigious tournaments.
First up, the 2022 Horizon Irish Open takes place from the June 30 to July 3 at the wonderful Mount Juliet Estate. Over the past 30 years, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Design course has held an esteemed position across the Irish golfing landscape, hosting a series of world class international golf events. Last year, fans watched as Australian star Lucas Herbert triumphed in wire-to-wire fashion. Lucas Herbert joined Sir Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, and Sam Torrance, as winners of the Irish Open hosted at Mount Juliet Estate.
This year’s exciting lineup includes Irish and international stars; Seamus Power, Shane Lowry, Tyrrell Hatton, Thomas Pieters and Thorbjørn Olesen.
Ireland’s golf fans will be spoiled this week as attention then shifts to the stunning Adare Manor as a who’s who of golf and the world of celebrity descend on the nearby County Limerick venue for the JP Mc Manus Pro-Am.
Adare Manor is widely regarded as one of the best golf courses in Ireland and has received critical acclaim following the recent redesign by Tom Fazio.
World No.1 and reigning Masters Champion Scottie Scheffler is the latest big-name addition to the field alongside Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Shane Lowry, Bryson DeChambeau, PGA Champion Justin Thomas, and recent US Open winner Matthew Fitzpatrick. Ireland is open for business, and we are back delivering world class golfing and unique leisure experiences for visitors. Golf is the world’s largest sports-related travel market and Tourism Ireland, is working hard to drive home the message that a golfing vacation on the island of Ireland is about much more than a round of 18 holes – the combination of our world-class links and our unique brand of hospitality plays a key role in attracting US golfers to visit.”
The Open Championship returns to Royal Portrush Golf Club in 2025 and Adare Manor will play host to the Ryder Cup in 2027. These are just two of the marquee courses that Ireland has to offer. The latest addition to this list comes at Rosapenna in County Donegal where the newly opened St Patrick’s Links debuted as the highest new entry at #55 on the GOLF Magazine Top 100 World rankings 2021-22, alongside three other courses in Ireland; Ballybunion, Lahinch & Portmarnock.
Ireland offers a fabulous list of signature courses which includes Royal County Down, Portmarnock, Lahinch, Ballyliffin and others, but there is also an equally unique opportunity to get off the beaten track and discover hidden gems such as Carne, Westport, Dooks, Castlerock and Connemara. In Ireland, the US golfer will find epic new experiences and courses that will keep the visitor coming back for more.
