The Skellig Six18 Distillery & Visitor Experience is located in Cahersiveen, in the town that is said to climb the mountain and look upon the sea. You will find it on the rugged Skellig coastline in County Kerry, on the scenic Ring of Kerry route.
The dramatic Wild Atlantic Way is the inspiration for the whiskey made at Skellig Six18 Distillery and Visitor Experience. Led by a storyteller, the award-winning tour of the distillery reveals the whiskey-making process and how the distillery got its name. There’s also the opportunity to sample a variety of spirits.
Skellig Six18 Distillery takes its name from the 618 steps carved by monks in the 6
th Century to reach their monastery high up on Skellig Michael.
This building, which now houses our Skellig Six18 Visitor Experience was a Winter Dry Dock for the boats that take visitors to Skellig Michael today, to climb those same 618 steps to reach the UNESCO monastery. See the boats leave in Springtime 2019 for the last time before we started work then to convert this space to the visitor experience right on the Ring of Kerry/Wild Atlantic Way
